What are you working on today?

The dodge didn't need brakes. A backing plate had somehow gotten smashed against the passenger front rotor. Brakes were still 70%. Mended that and changed the oil, sent it on it's way. Now I've got nothing to do until Wednesday unless something shows up. I do have a Taurus coming Friday to check a coolant leak. Customer cant let go of it until then.
The Caliber never showed up?

Riding lawnmower. Had to jump it to get it started after sitting all winter. Battery is old and weak, even though it was occasionally on a tender over the winter. Still thinking that it's mostly a hard to start because it hasn't been run in a long time more than the battery. Switched from straight 30W oil to synthetic 5W-30 last summer so even though it was colder than it normally is when I run it, the oil should not have been an issue. Was not my intention to cut grass, just to drive it around to exercise it.

I’d love to take a nap lol. If I didn’t have class tonight I would. I didn’t get to do anything at work today oh well maybe tomorrow since my boss wants me to rebuild the carburetor of his 1968 Ford F100.
Get good with carburetors. The art of building and tuning one is practically lost. I never was good with them myself, and farm out carb rebuilds these days. A young folk who can tune one might make you some good cash some day.

Oh yeah. Especially since I’m starting another job now I just got offered it tonight. The focus is going to be on older cars but some newer stuff too. I’m kind of excited.

Good luck with it. The older cars are a constant project, but it teaches you patience. Look forward to hearing about the hot rods you'll be tinkering with in the future.

Hopefully their will be some. He called me up tonight and is like I know you like old stuff my shop is going to be specializing in older things and of course new things too because that’s where the money is at. And offered me a job promising it would pay more than my current job so I am excited. He is trying to get accounts set up currently with the parts stores and suppliers and tool trucks. I have to have my own tools but that’s no big deal cause I already have many.

Just make sure you dont count your chickens before they hatch. If your current job is reliable pay, consider that. If the guy isnt established and is already promising you a better paycheck....just be cautious. At any rate I wish you the best.

Yeah I’m still going to do some work for my current shop too I like that job and want to keep it just in case things don’t work out. I haven’t met this guy but my friend is pretty good every guy in the family has been a mechanic for generations. As long as he isn’t telling me how to do my job I can get along pretty well I’m sure. The shop is already paid for as his dad (my friends brother) owns it. Has 3 lifts for 3 bays.

Replacing front wheel hubs on a 2001 Olds Alero. Will change the oil too. Customer got a chance to let me look at the Taurus. Needs timing cover gasket, so I guess I'll do that Friday. Got nothing for Thursday.

I rebuilt my boss carburetor with a little help and went home. He won’t allow pictures on the property so I couldn’t take any but oh well. I’m chilling at home and the phone keeps ringing left and right since the lady that works with the commonwealth attorney had to call me and ask questions about my wreck and tell me my court date.

Wish you were closer, i'd bring my truck in for you to look at.

Finished the vacuum line on my van. I had to think of a way to fabricate a elbow since they didn’t make that size anymore. I just used a straight piece of hose. Tomorrow if she starts up and runs right it needs both rear wheel cylinders and they are pouring fluid out the side.

What kind of van are you messing with?
