What are you working on today?

Traded installation of garage lighting with a neighbor. In exchange, I installed a cheap pair of front compliance bushings on his Honda Pilot. Also threw in a brake fluid flush.

Since I was in the mood, I also performed a brake fluid flush on the Prius. It had been about 2 years and 35K miles since the last one.

Last couple of days:
Distributor cap, rotor button and oil change on a 93 Chevrolet G30 Coachmen motorhome
Alternator on a 10 GMC Sierra 2500 6.0 V8
Front and rear pad slap on an 02 Pontiac Grand Prix GT

Visited my parents today and found one of their cars to barely crank over. My tester showed 200cca. I obtained a warranty replacement from Costco, installed it, and gave it the full Noco snake oil treatment (washers and spray). On their other vehicle, I also cleaned the terminals and gave it the same Noco treatment.

The last JCI battery was 2.5 years old and has zero corrosion.

Yesterday I patched a radiator on a Caterpillar APU unit. The guy didn’t want to buy a new one so who knows how long the patch will hold. Got $30 an hour and all the stuff we had to remove and do took us 6 hours so he gave me $190 dollars. Which having to work in the cold and do that was a good amount. Today I’ve got to see if I can get those electrical connections free on my light connectors on my truck so I can change the lights out since they are old and cracked and one is busted where it got hit. Been together for 32 years so who knows if they will come loose.

Guess I'll meander down to the shop and piddle with something. It's cold and raining and the old bones really aren't feeling it.

I ended up slapping pads on the front of a 2000 Chrysler minivan and changing the oil. Tomorrow I'm supposed to have an 03 F350 V10 coming by for a thermostat, and a 12 Chevrolet Equinox for a set of spark plugs.

Got a call at about 5:30 for a poor running Chrysler Town and Country went and found the vacuum line had come off so I put it back on and the issue was fixed made $100 $50 for the call out fee and the diagnostic fee was $50 too. I told my boss not to charge for labor because it was literally popping a hose back on.

Well I just got the car starter and notice the battery is AGM type, and I been using a normal charger/ trickle to charge it.

I wonder if it did any dame for not using the an appropriate charger o_O

He also suffers from old age 98 pretty much everything is original on the car 120K only.

The upper intake had to come off which isn’t as bad as a job as it seems and looks. Only needed 3 sockets the spark plug socket and an 8mm and 10mm but had to have 1/4 deep and shallow and 3/8 deep and shallow in those sizes. I’ll post the front one tomorrow.

Was that done on the Ford Escape? I used to work for a fleet and we had some Escapes...those things got pounded. We bought them and used them in ways they weren’t really designed for. They were loaded up with weight and taken all over the place...up mountain roads, in the city, miles and miles every day.

They held up surprisingly well. Only problem I ever noticed was the transmission cases would leak at the seam...so I’d just tighten the bolts where the transmission was held together/split down the middle and add a little fluid...and they were good to go.

Finishing up a tune up on a 95 Chevrolet pickup. Then I've got a battery to replace on a 13 Dodge Avenger and wheel cylinder replacement on a 93 Chevrolet Astro van.

Yes it’s on the Escape. Not nearly as bad a job as I was expecting. Still working on the front the three bolts in the front are a real pain to get too. Ford should of put the engine in longitudinal lol would of made the mechanics jobs so much easier. I haven’t noticed mine dripping from the middle of the case I always check everything when doing an oil change. But if it does start I’ll do the same thing you did. I serviced the transmission back in the summer because I thought it was slipping turns out the brake calipers and hoses were bad. It’s been pretty good we have had it since September when my aunt sold it to us for $800 because the sunroof she thought was leaking but she had left it open. I think we are going to have to do rotors next as it pulsates when you stop.

Its raining today. Guess I'll finish the astro up and call the customer. I got a lot done during this week's warm and clear weather. When it rains and/or it's cold I only have room for one vehicle in the shop. I have nothing else scheduled for the day.

Still working on the Escape front cover. One of the tabs that holds the battery cable on and runs across the front broke off instead of pulling off so I’m trying to get that off so I can get the last bolt out then the valve cover will come off. I installed the other three spark plugs already. The problem is it’s so close to the radiator that you can’t fit anything in there to pull it off with. Hopefully I can get it off as the front cover is leaking worse but I done the back first because it was supposed to be harder.
