Sammys sure come a far ways. He has had a really very successful AND long career. Seems like yesterday to me (late 1970s) that he was just starting out in music as a lead singer (played no instruments on stage back then) for the Ronnie Montrose band. There was so much talent in that group there was no way they could stay together past just a few albums before they were all putting out solo lps or starting other bands.
I cant believe I do not have that one. why? In my high school years (long ago!" Chestnut Mare " is one of my favorites . Great 2 record set .
I stumbled across some studio videos of Montrose with Sammy H doing demo recordings of the first two Montrose albums. They were really some "Hot Dogs" back in the day. Ronnie M was one of the fastest players I have seen up close in concert. He passed away from cancer some time back..MONTROSE - " Paper Money " is now playing @ XM Deep Tracks w/ Greg Roberson (?) .
