We are enjoying a nice Crémant de Bordeaux as we contemplate preparing dinner at a leisurely pace.
What is the difference between this and champagne? Well, different grape varieties are used in making them, champagne is limited to production in the Champagne region and it costs at least 3X as much. We bought this wine on clearance at Kroger for $12.00 while a lower tier champagne like Mumm is around $39.00, although we have bought actual champagne for as little as $14.00 a bottle. At typical prices, you can buy a Crémant de Bordeaux for $14-15 a bottle. The French champagne houses also offer sparkling wines they produce in CA and these are typically very good at a much lower price point than their French output commands.
Anyway, we're having broiled lamb chops with broccoli, which should be very good and also really easy.
