What are you eating right now?

Wahlburger from Hy-Vee. Never even heard of them until today. Daughter is giving flu shots at the pharmacy today. Part time gig for her to help them out. Granddaughter works there at the present and talked Mom into it, they are short nurses for shots.

Guess Hy-Vee give free lunch for anyone working a weekend shift. Either Wahlburgers or Chinese. She is on a special diet and does not want either. Getting it after her shift and dropping it off to me!:p Life is good today at my house.

Wahlburger did a realty show about their hamburgers. Might be a interesting watch for you. My wife enjoyed the series. I am no so motivated to try a whalbugere restaurant

GON, I am slow today.

Are you wanting to try them or the show soured you on them?

After watchong the show, I started to speculate the restaurant was a hip place to go. Like a planet Hollywood, etc. When I was working in Hawaii there was a whalbugere restaurant nearby, but the reviews were not great, but the prices were highd. So I just curbed my enthusiasm to try them

Chicken Bog: A distant cousin of pilau, Chicken Bog combines the best qualities of both chicken and rice. The chicken is juicy and flavorful, and the rice absorbs the flavor of the chicken and spices. Done in the best Southern style of rice, the grains don't stick together, although mine did a bit which added another layer of texture which I like.

Some people theorize that Chicken Bog gets its name because the chicken is bogged in rice. Others claim the name comes because it is a boggy, soggy mess. The recipe is an old favorite, especially in the Lowcountry regions where rice is grown, because it is easy to prepare, can be made to accommodate large groups, and can be served formally or informally.

Chicken Bog used to be a traditional meal in fish camps, cooked on the riverbanks in big black iron pots and served with butter beans and other local vegetables. It's fairly simple and quick to make, and it’s a great way to feed a crowd or to provide leftovers. By itself, it can provide a simple, full meal that includes vegetables, carbs, and protein. I like it with a salad or leafy green vegetables. What could be messier than this?

Can't imagine a Wahlburger in a Hy-Vee grocery store would be a "hip place" to go around here. Omaha, NE. is a skip and jump away, with much fancier places to eat. Daughter and SIL celebrated their 1 year anniversary at some high dollar place in Sept. Forget the name but she send a few pics. I would probably not be allowed inside, wearing my bib-overhauls. LOL! They dressed up in fancy clothes.

Guess time will tell. She gets off work at 2:00 PM. Will get the food then and deliver here. Will report back.

Hobbled down the street today with my cane and got the mail. 38 F was the temp with some breeze. Only wore a sweatshirt.
Glad I don't have to be outside much anymore. Too early for this time of year and being this cold. Helper lady got my furnace filters changed Tues, so it is warm inside.

The Wahlburg family story is a neat story, and my Wife think Mark Wahlburg is a good man.

One of the episodes of the Whalburger reality show was they hooked up all the restaurants so Mark could broadcast from one restaurant to all the restaurants. I guess I am much more interested in the quality of the food and the price and cleanliness, then the fan fare.

Suggest you watch the series- and I am very hopeful you will like your burger.

For someone who committed a hate crime back in 1988, MarkWahlberg seems to have turned his life around. While stealing beer, Wahlberg, age 17, spewing a racist tirade, beat the Vietnamese shopkeeper with a five-foot-long piece of wood and punched the man who was begging for help in the eye. Wahlberg, not yet known as a hip-hop artist, was charged with attempted murder, pleaded guilty to felony assault, and was sentenced to two years in prison of which he only served 45 days. People do change but nobody knows what darkness may lurk in their hearts.

Innocent!

Verdict in on the Wahlburger. Will give it a 5 out of 10. Only ate 1/2, can't eat much anymore. Tasted like anything you could throw together yourself, with Wal-Mart ingredients. Meat looked like a frozen patty. Burger King meat is more tasty in my book! Bun fares with that as well. Tomato sucked like store bought. Ordered medium rare, was cooked well done as expected these days.

I can do better myself. I buy good meat from a local locker. I make the burgers about 1" thick. Put on a hot charcoal grill. Nice and crusty on the outside and pink on the inside. (I know you aren't supposed to do that these days, but I'm 68 and it has not killed me yet)
Home canned tomato would have been an improvement over their fresh. Lettuce, cheese and onion were OK.

I can't grill outside anymore, as I can barely walk. I could do better cooking the meat under my oven broiler. At least it would be tasty and not over-cooked. Oh well, it was free and delivered to my house and I got to visit with my lovely Daughter! Winning day for me.

The last of the meatloaf. One more meal of meatloaf and I don't know what I'd be capable of.

I made a blackberry tart last night and I'm having a piece of that. Almond flour shortbread. Not a sugar glaze but agar agar. Now my tongue is twisted.

The careless, uneven application of the glaze shows my level of amateurishness

Love meatloaf, though I have never put an egg inside! I would eat.

No Chinese swill for aunt and I. 14 oz ribeye for me and filet for the aunt. Won $1,000 off strip ticket so splurged a bit. Not pictured: Sam Adams October test draft.
