What are you doing right now?

That's probably taking off from the ground after capture and maintaining level flight. The video with the pretty large baby goat was snagged on the side of the mountain which helped the Eagle get airborne and glide with a larger payload like a hang guilder launches off a mountain. Other longer videos of that snag shows the Eagle gliding down to the bottom of the mountain with the prey - LINK

Glad someone was close by to rescue, as an Eagle will battle like crazy on the ground with prey.
I have been out in my bass boat fishing one morning real early and spotted one come zooming down and splash into the water. Shocked as I looked and saw it start to fly away with a big fish. Amazing they can see so well to do a thing like that.

I watched “A Quiet Place”, and then “A Quiet Place part 2”, and then “A Quiet Place Day One.”

Holy Hell!
It’s one of those stories where you start thinking, “How would I try to deal with this and how could I keep my family safe?”

Wow. Adult ones....Maybe not so much? The older ones can get scary huge.
(Sorry for Another Boomer good olde days tale!) Probably why they have "delete" / "ignore" / "block" options for ramblers like me.

When still working.... I would spend lots of days behind the levees on the Mississippi river. Working on the plant site's main river pumps. There is a really large patch of woods that runs parallel between the river and the levee system for miles.
Many times we would be out there working and see a pair of great big Eagles that would get mighty interested in us. There was plenty of wild game in those woods for them to feed on. Matter of fact, in my early years doing shift work, I would knock of at sunrise and go hunting in there for either squirrels, rabbits, doves or woodcock.

Those Eagles would soar and float all around over us for long periods of time as we worked. We always made sure to keep a close eye on those giants. Why call them giants?
Well , because one morning as we drove up to the pumping station, we could not figure out "who is that up there standing by the fence...?" Closer we got we all became speechless. What we thought was a person in the thick fog, ended up being a great big Eagle eating on a racoon it apparently had killed. This thing was so big I know I never would want to get close to one of them. It actually looked like a short human from a distance. I wish back then we had the cell phones like today because I sure would like to have a photo of that bird standing there.
I wonder if this was a Golden Eagle? They're much larger than Bald Eagles.

I used to work on a farm in my late teens and early 20's (in Saskatchewan) and would occasionally be out in the field on one of the old tractors that didn't have a cab. Hawks and other similar birds would circle overhead watching for rodents, rabbits, etc....but one time I looked up and a Golden Eagle was up there following me around.

I was stunned by how large it was and didn't feel too secure out there in the open!

Like I told Jill - fire two blasts in the air with a 12 gauge 🤕

Killing Eagles is a Federal crime. Even owning a feather from one is a crime, even if it was just found on the ground.

I got to see one up close in rural Montana one time. It must have had a kill there, as it was standing on the shoulder of the road and just looked at us as we drove slowly past it. It was huge! I think it was close to waist high standing.

Got back from my week up north. Next week I head back for another week. Not enough pictures taken but it sure was nice. Beautiful part of the country, some phenomenal people, just a bit isolated. The weather turned unusually warm so I stayed off the ice roads and didn't even start the snowmobiles.

When I was at Elmendorf AFB in Alaska on business, the base had a giant outdoor cage with 4 or 5 Eagles that had been injured by cars when the Eagles were trying to get road kill. They were not able to rehabilitate them, so were taken in as base mascots.

Eagles are HUGE. No doubt about that!

Bald Eagle can carry 1.5 to 3.15 kilograms (3.3 to 6.9 pounds). An immature bald eagle can't take off clutching much of anything.

It was obviously hungry. Couldn't get at any chickens, no rabbits left...........

Another irony is I'm doing major battle with rats right now. Ugg.
Wind up bald on both ends if they try to scoop our pets

Just got to work. It’s very cold outside with the wind and temperatures. It says it’s 19 degrees and feels like 1 degree. Hopefully it will warm up soon I don’t like the cold lol. It’s also snowing so maybe we will go home early.
