Browsing BITOG after dinner, after I saw the 2nd car accident happen in front of me in my life.

7pm, dark, I was in the right lane pulling away from an intersection at 25 - 30 mph, 20 yards away from the intersection.

then the lady in a red Mitsu Outlander Sport in the left lane and diagonal from me by less than a car-length hit something causing a loud thud, I see a body fall onto the lane cat-eyes and brake, while swerving right. all in an instant, by pure reflex.

I get out and the over-60 man is still for 30 seconds (no bleeding). Then he starts moving and moaning. I tell him to stay still. Lucky for him, he was around the two people who don't gun through that intersection, lol.

picked up the dude's shoe which flew 20 yards down the road; other people picked up his hat, other shoe.

ambulance took him away.....dude's lucky day even if he doesn't realize it.

gave my statement. Lady's underbody splash shield popped out of the grooves and was hanging loose. Went under the car and popped the shield back in.....all the rivets were gone! (thank you oil change places who are in a rush)

moral of the story.....defensive driving + there but for the grace of God (or pure luck) go I.

ps, i suddenly remember 7 years ago i came across a motorcycle accident, after it happened but before the ambulances showed up. That had a totally different vibe. The motorcyclist was limp and alone in the middle of the intersection, the eyewitnesses looked shocked. and the nurse who was a bystander wasn't in a rush to return to the body with her first aid kit. totally forgot about that under right now

I’m watching the Milwaukee Brewers @ Chicago Cubs game. Go Brewers. Also looking at cars on my dealerships website too. It’s getting time to replace my current vehicle. It’s begin to lose a lot of power on acceleration and making all kinds of racket and has a pretty big oil leak that requires an intense amount of time and labor to fix so I’m going to have to resort to getting something different. Not many cars I like these days so it’s hard to find something lol.

I assume you get a break on price?

They will come down a little bit. Usually $1,000 off used to be 10% before the pandemic. I’m hoping since the Toyota salesman knows me they can do a little bit better off haha.
Since you work there they should give you 10% over their cost or less.

I used to sell things to my employees near my cost as long as they were not using for a side job.

If it’s any consolation work meetings are all the same as you described - matters not what or where the work

Sometimes there were snacks

We did invent some good sound barriers once
My favorites are the "workgroup" meetings, which I define as we all sit around and talk about the work we could be doing if we weren't in the meeting...

Do you know any mechanics who can fix it?

Just me lol. I have learned to never trust anyone with my stuff even my coworkers lol. I see them do stuff at work and I’m just like man I thought you were better than that. The only thing I get my coworkers to do is my state inspections because legally we aren’t allowed to do those on our own car.
