What did you do before vs now? I love mechanic work. The only other thing I could see myself doing is working at an auto parts store.
I thought I'd told you my story when you've commented how you wished you could retire, as your current job is hard on your body.
At any rate, here it is in a nutshell: When I was your age, I was doing essentially what you are doing. I was a Master Tech at a Toyota dealer. Then I left and worked at independent shops that worked on all makes and models. During that time I became disillusioned with the car repair business, and realized I didn't want to do that all my life. So, during those years I was saving as much as I possibly could, and started taking night classes, and eventually earned an MBA. I quit the car repair business, took my life-savings, and the knowledge I learned from earning that MBA, and started my own business.
There were some extremely tough years, but eventually hard work and determination paid off, and I sold the business I had built, and retired early. For the last 23+ years I've had hobbies. One of which is being involved in professional racing, with some time away from that when family needs arose.
There are no guarantees no matter what you choose to do. But if you're not happy as you often state, you are young enough to make changes.
