What are you doing right now?

In my area we have mostly black squirrels although we also have brown and grey ones too. I didn’t even realize how unique black squirrels were until I started doing my walking tours in Niagara. My guests from other countries were commenting that they had never seen a black squirrel and it was then that I discovered that they are mostly located near the Great Lakes but in other areas they are very rare. Who knew? 😃View attachment 322004
The black squirrels are native to Victoria but the grey interlopers mostly dominate now.

You wearing rubber gloves when handling and loading the traps? Keeps the human smell off of them and the bait.
Occasionally every winter or so we would find a mouse and cheap peanut butter on a mousetrap works best but after we use the mousetrap we would throw it away. We would always wear rubber gloves too because apparently if they smell human scent, they seem to not end up in the traps as often. Someone once told me if you catch a mouse on a trap to replace it with a fresh one at the exact same spot. I always put them against the wall as they like to run against the bulkhead and trim.

I’m in negotiations with @AutoMechanic to acquire his deodorant collection. Once we close the deal that should pay the bills for a few months!!
Lol. Anything is for sale at the right price. I might even sell you my rare Speed Stick Musk two brand new sticks. I found another discontinued scent one at a gas station near my work but I didn’t pick it up yet till I get my important stuff paid. They have about 20 sticks of it and boy I’m going there once I have the means to do so.

I’m making a little bit of money tomorrow. Dad and mom going back to West Virginia and asked to use my car I told them $100 up front and they can use it for the day and no extra fee if they touch the radio and bring it back with a full tank of gas so they agreed lol. The car they took today leaked out two quarts of oil on the whole trip they had to stop twice and now it’s still half a quart low because it lost 1/2 quart on the rest of the way back.

Right now I'm wallowing in the glee created by digging out my truck yesterday.
It was a balmy 31*F and I got unexpected help from the townie driving the paper recycling truck -a large, rear maw garbage truck.
The plowed berms were against my truck and the refrozen road salt made things harder.
I was out there with an iron bar and my neighbor's snowblower.
He offered to bust-up the berms by backing the dustmans' foot platform against the snow.
He did it twice. The packed snow fell apart
I was able to launch the snow with a blower.
Had been as cold as this morning, the job would've been exponentially more difficult.
I wonder if the packed, salted snow would've resisted being broken up had it been much colder.....like today.

There’s a brand new grocery store in Niagara on the Lake that opened this morning for the first time so I went to check it out. It was packed with people and everyone walking in the door got a $10 gift card to use right away. And on my way out the door they handed me a goodie bag with probably $30 worth of stuff! 😎

...He been setting traps with peanut butter and catching many. I asked how he is disposing the victims and he laughed. He has a bunch of large red tail hawks and some young eagles living in the field and woods nearby assisting him. LoL He says all he has to do is place the mice on a board laying in the edge of the field and the birds snatch them almost instantly...
I had a problem with mice in my garage and once I caught them, even double- and triple-bagging them in Ziploc bags wasn't enough to keep the garbage can from stinking after a few days. One Sunday I found that I'd caught another victim but I wanted to mow the grass before deciding what to do with it, so I dumped the carcass under the tree out front, and went inside to change into my mowing clothes. I came out maybe 15 minutes later to find that the mouse was gone. This happened several times after that. I don't know what was finding them, but something was taking over the disposal for me. The mice were stiff when I dumped them out of the trap so I don't think that they were just stunned and recovered and ran away but I guess that's a possibility.
