What are you doing right now?

I’m fully expecting this to be a $5000 hit once it’s all in. 😥
We used to have Sears here in the day.... my wh. Is 7 years old.
I'd call them at 9am and it would be delivered installed by 12 noon with permits for $450 all inclusive for a 40 gallon... I got one for my other house and got prices for a Propane unit... I think it was 75 gallons for $3750. and that was less than 2 years ago...I did it myself for $1200

I got a quote just now and it’s not that bad! $2500 Canadian installed. That’s $1787 US. This is my old one:

Relaxing. Earlier: Washed the 4R while it was cool. Put together the last two (of four) dining room chairs that I FINALLY bought for the table. Completed online courses for the new job.

It is getting very hard to find parts for just about anything older these days. I read someplace that vehicle makers all decided a while back to keep up with parts for 10 years back ONLY. So , at least for autos and trucks we have plenty of aftermarket companies. Thanks to all of us OCD restorations / collector car buffs. For other parts ? I guess we all have to search the internet and anyplace else we can think of. No pride in manufacturing anymore like before. Now a days one is lucky if the company we bought things from is even still in business by the time we may need replacement parts. Near everything is made to be "throw away" today so we have to purchase new junk.
I had a Craftsman garage door opener. I must have had it over 25 years and rebuilt the tiny gears inside 3-4 times. Finally, Sears / Craftsman is no more and my opener finally bit the dust. Replaced with a new one from Lowe's. Wonder how long it will last?
I have one of the craftsman garage door openers that hasn't worked in forever because of that gear. I've just been opening it manually because I never could find the replacement gear. I did put on new garage doors a few years back and they are so thin that I already have one that is splitting in the middle.
