That might be a little too pricey for me, trying to stay under $250 ish unless there's something way better for a little moreStihl Kombi if you want gas. I have trimmer, pruner and hedge cutter attachments. Works a treat
+1Echo and Husqvarna are excellent, especially for homeowner use. The one shown in @901Memphis post would be a great choice, but shop around at specialty shops (as @JRed suggested) and you might find a better deal on comparable units.
do you want just a string trimmer? Years ago I bought a Home Depot Ryobi straight shaft trimmer, 2 stroke. It worked good for several years and when it died I bought a 4 stroke power head to replace it. I stayed with Ryobi because I have the string trimmer, sidewalk edger, rototiller, pole saw etc... attachments. I would love to buy a Stihl but to replace all the attachments would be a small fortune.Looking for recommendations for a weed eater. I think I want a gas one. How much do you really need to spend to get a high quality one?
Is this one any good?
Ditto on the Echo SRM 225. Under your $250 and easily had at your local Home Depot. Has a tad under 4k reviews. That might be a little too pricey for me, trying to stay under $250 ish unless there's something way better for a little more
The Echo recommendations are spot on.
If you don't have a whole lot to cut and it's mostly grass & weeds, the battery Ryobi is pretty good. I use it more than my gas Stihl FS-90.
I don't know that I would put one on a Ryobi electric. It's not a powerhouse at all, but its fine for grass and weeds. If you need more, then go for the gas Echo.I think I might need a brush blade for the overgrowth part of my hill that is getting pretty dense, I could get a picture tommorow if needed but do brush blades work on most everything?
