Water wetter safe with ford gold?

From what I've read, if you use water wetter with anything other than straight water (or green) it will quickly turn to brown sludge in the system.

I use in our 07 F150 with no problems or discoloring. i also run a coolant filter system on the truck

Really if your cooling system is in good working condition, why would you need this stuff? Ive seen people use it in atvs because they never seem to have enough cooling once mud plugs the radiator, but cars, I think antifreeze would be plenty.

It will be fine.

I have read that the Redline water wetter has lubricants / anti-corrosion additives that can separate out when used in a system with coolant (not pure water).
While it should mix back in as the coolant gets warm......it can build up in the overflow tank.
While the normal Water Wetter can be used with a coolant mix....it is designed for use in pure water.......thus it has the anti-corrosion additives.

I have read that the Redline Diesel Water Wetter does NOT have the additives....as it is designed to be used in a coolant mix, which will have the ant-corrosion additives already.
So....maybe you could try the Diesel version?
It comes in a purple color......so I don't even want to think about the color you will end up with when mixed with Gold.

I recall this subject being discussed a number of times over the years......
One would be hard pressed to prove that is does or does not work.
"My temp gauge stayed the same", well.....it should, the coolant temperature is maintained by the thermostat.
So one should NOT expect to add this type of product to their coolant and expect to see their temperature gauge suddenly stay at a lower level under NORMAL driving conditions......so if that is what you are looking for......you are most likely going to be disappointed.

I DO believe (only my opinion) that the product does what it says, Improves heat TRANSFER between metal and the coolant.
This would help in heat transfer INTO the coolant from the hot parts of the motor......and it would help in heat transfer OUT OF the coolant in the radiator.

To determine if it was working or not in a particular application, one would need to somehow monitor the temperature at a hot metal location under identical operating conditions with and without the water wetter.

I also recall a post where someone got a response from Redline, that the "separation" of the anti-corrosion additives is NOT harmful in any way.

I have confidence in Redline and what they say about their products.
I am not convinced that I need it in my particular application so I am not using it at this time.
I did use the normal water wetter in a vehicle a while back.....and it certainly did not harm anything.

So.....in answer to the original question.....I would be fully confident that this product would cause no harm in the G-05 / Motorcraft GOLD coolant.
If one has any questions?......then, from what I have read, one can go to the Redline Oil Company website and they have a way that you can ask them a question directly.....and they will get back to you and be honest and very informative.

Most people say it doesn't work my temp gauge reads the same, though alot of gauges basically only are good at showing total overheat or normal. Besides the fact that even redline says your temp gauge shouldn't change. The product is designed to make the coolant/water more efficent at pulling heat from the engine. By lowering surface tension and likelyhood of air pockets which prevent the coolant from touching and cooling everywhere. When I had it in I did notice the car was warmed up and throwing heat out noticably quicker. My car has automatic hvac so its pretty easy to spot since it doesn't turn on till its able to throw heat. Had it in my 98 towncar and my 97 continental. I have also heard of people with dexcool getting the gunk but also that the solids can be collected out of the overflow. Though I also remenber hearing that the gunk often wasn't there if distilled vs tap water was used. I had dex and distilled in the 98 and ww with no gunk.

The only use I see for it is in racing classes where only water is allowed in cooling systems. Wetter works fine with water.

In road cars what's the point?

FWIW, I asked the tech line at RP this very question and their reply was that Purple Ice is totally compatible with both OAT and HOAT (G-05) coolant mixtures.

I have run both WW and Purple Ice with G-05 and also Toyota pink and have seen no problem over a ten year period (with appropriate coolant refill as necessary). I have also enjoyed a small temp decrease in the assorted vehicles I have used it in.
