Washer Recommendations

I would seriously look at the Maytag vs Speed Queen roll over test in YouTube. As a SQ owner, I can attest that has happened to me. I would have bought the commercial Maytag or the commercial brother Whirlpool if I could do it over again. Also look at the Maytag’s commercial washer tear down on YouTube. Too much herd mentality in Soeed Queens and some of it comes from people who’ve never owned one.

This video discusses the difference between the Maytag commercial vs a regular Maytag/Whirlpool. The commercial is somewhat better, but when you watch this same guy "best washer" recommendations, they are nowhere to be seen.

My tool box is older than that kid. I cut my teeth in '66 at 12 in a family business back then learning the industry. I've worked on them all, early bolt down washers, wringer machines, sixties combo washer/dryers, the designs were all over the map.
Major appliances today are eco rules driven and by production costs to remain competitive with the imports. Lets not forget market innovations for the latest and greatest features. Washer durability went down the tubes with the low water mandates and before that when the took the phosphates out of laundry detergent. That really frosted the ladies back then.
That's why they brought back domestic front loaders, to meet water use. They went away in the '60's for all the same issues we have today.
Anyone ever see a GM built Frigidaire vertical motion agitator machine ? It went up / down to agitate aka pulsate the clothes, rolled them into a big round knot. Or a range that has a refrigerated oven so you could load your food in and it kept it cold until you programmed it to start cooking while you were at work and it was done when you got home.
That said Whirlpool built stuff only in my house. SQ no big deal, they break also.

Found a better deal at Home Depot. A Hotpoint POS washer. On sale for $ 349, Black Friday sale with free shipping. Hotpoint is made by Haier, Chinese company. In the UK , their made by Whirlpool, go figure. Whatever. If I get 3-4 yrs out of it, I'm happy.....then right in the trash. Only got 3-4 yrs out of my expensive Maytag Commercial Line. Everything is junk nowadays, so I figured I'd buy junk.

Chinese owned Hailer also owns GE Appliances.
Many in the USA are unaware of this.
Yes, I saw that whirlpool has the rights to the Hot Point name in the UK.

Haier owns GE now too ?!?!. Well, if their making almost EVERYTHING now, maybe it will last longer. I know my Maytag was a re-branded Whirpool, and the control board was hecho en Mexico. The POS is running as I type, and making some racket as it agitates. Unplugging it after every wash is the only way it works now. Stupid pile of junk. Never again. My 08' GE washer lasted 20 yrs without a single problem. Beat the crap out of that thing too. Wish me luck on my Hotpoint/ Haier.
