Walmarts wiper blades

I have a rant,
Walmart use to sell Pylon wipers arms 24" for about $2.50. Now they only sell the refills for 24" but not the arms.
Kinda ticks me off walmart is leaving me no choice but to buy the $5 Anco arm.Which breaks everytime you try to remove the old refill becuase Anco added some piece of plastic that cracks the entire arm if you try to remove the refill.

I change blades on cars every 6 months or so.What use to cost me $2.50 is now costing almost $10 per car.
If im lucky and dont break the arm it only cost me $2.50.

Most wal-mart stuff is crap. They strongarm companies into dropping prices, and what do you get for it? Lower quality stuff...

Id suggest going to autozone, etc, and getting the anco arms that are all metal (closer to every OE blade that Ive ever seen), so that the refills can be easily changed.

Usually there is no need to replace the blade itself anyway, they should last nearly indefinitely, unless they rust out, etc.

I'm with JHZR2.... every 6 months? Blades should last considerably longer than that. When I get poor wiping action, I find the problem can be cured by either cleaning the blade with alcohol, cleaning the glass with an abrasive, non-chlorinated cleaner (Bon Ami), or in extreme cases the glass needs to be professionally polished because it easily gets etched for some reason from the outside environment.

not if you live in a really hot or cold climate. replacing them every 6 mos is for people who want consistent wiping action.

you could technically use a high grit sandpaper and sand the edges of the blades, but it's easier to buy refills.

The last set of wiper refills I bought from Wal-Mart lasted maybe a month! Granted they were the cheapest variety (Pylon), but they seemed to do pretty good in the past.

Everything at Wal Mart scares me (I am now working in a Wal Mart store but not their employee), they care about one thing only, bottom line. I am seriously beginning to wonder if even the brand names they sell are done to the same specs as a brand name sold in another store. they have so much influence and power that a manufacturer could easily produce a lower quality product under the brand name exclusively for Wal Mart. They truly are bottom feeders, part time workers to avoid benefits etc.

I replace the whole blade. ANCO makes good wipers and their better then anything I've found at a parts store. Why buy a refill when a new wiper is less then $4?

I find the best assemblies I can, then use the Lexor rubber refills from Walmart. The Lexor refills are better than the original rubber in most cases, and you get to use a high quality assembly.

The Pylons I bought were for my "beater." They were good in the past, but I won't make that mistake again.

I have been very happy with the lexor blades. I replace them every 6 months or so.

I use the lexor blades and refills also.

They are impressive, but the OEM blades for my honda are great as well. Plus they are made in Japan

I wish my car were made there too.

You are right to worry, b/c it's true. From electronics to foodstuffs, cost cutting is there.
