Prices I gathered last week for the five quart jugs
quaker state q syntetic (horsepower, and torque power)$ 21.00
Supertech full synthetic $ 17.00
pennzoil platinum $ 23.00
valvoline synpower $22.50
castrol syntec $25.00
mobil 1 $ 26.00

wonder if the prices will go down because of the "failing [censored] can of the economy"?

At O'reilly auto parts, the Mystik brand syn-blend oil WENT UP A $1.00 PER QUART SINCE 2 WEEKS AGO!!! Now 3.99

What a bunch of B/S man! I am sure it has to do with the fact Wal-mart no longer carries it.

But you will find that in 2009-2010 the price of goods will drop dramatically to try to stimulate sales in a stale economy and then 2010-2011 we will be facing MASSIVE inflation of 20% per year; otherwise known as "hyper-inflation". I hope I am wrong.

And consider yourself lucky because the cost of living is more everywhere else than it is here...and some of those oil prices you gave are actually cheaper than Wal-mart charges here! usually things cost less here because wages are lower to match cost of living...but it appears those oil prices are the same or more so if you factor in the cost of living difference than the Pacific NW versus Oklahoma, those oils should be several dollar less per QT here

Ever notice that huge events happen in batches?

From the Wiki link above :
" Although there is a great deal of debate about the root causes of hyperinflation, it becomes visible when there is an unchecked increase in the money supply (or drastic debasement of coinage) usually accompanied by a widespread unwillingness to hold the money for more than the time needed to trade it for something tangible to avoid further loss. Hyperinflation is often associated with wars (or their aftermath), economic depressions, and political or social upheavals."

We are going to have some VERY angry teenagers here in a few years.

Just as a general observation: I have noticed that Walmart has increased there prices on a lot of items. Most of these items are ones that they are underpriced on compared to their local competition. I think they are looking at what their competition sells these items for and closing the gap on the price difference. I also believe they are doing this to help maintain there profit margin during a period of declining gross sales.

MC5w20- YES! I also have noticed this same thing. They are closing the gap on their competitors such as AAP, AZ, Napa etc. Especially with the Diesel oils. It will reach a point with me that saving $x is not worth spending 45 minutes in a welfare checkout line, compare to heading to napa and getting in/out in 4 minutes. Time is money, and money is time!!!!!!! and with walmart you will spend some time there, no doubt. I need to look at BJ's and Costco options.

That's what I was thinkin when I posted this in another thread.

Went to Walmart today P-YB and V-WB were both $3.47 a qt and ST was $2.47 a qt.

But man this is getting rediculous!!

I agree about Walmart pricing, I have noticed the lack of sale prices and pricing equity with local vendors because of the economy. However, I stocked up on Maxlife 5w30 when the "Big Box" had it for $10 per 5qt jug last summer and I am sitting on about 20 jugs still. Love that stuff. Hope I can ride out the lack of low pricing. I mean $17 for Walmart brand synthetic oil? Not this ole boy !

I think I am still spoiled from the find I got last year. I went to Autozone and got 40 quarts of Exxon Superflo for $10. It was marked down to .99 a quart. They had sealed cases of 5 quart jugs mixed in with the quarts. I bought a case of the 5 quart jugs along with some other items. When I checked the receipt later I noticed I got charged $4.96 for all 20 quarts. I went back two days later and got another sealed case. Yep, $4.96 for 20 quarts.

I just can't bring myself to pay Walmart retail prices right now.

I think so. The other day they had a sign over the Quaker State High Mileage as being $8/jug. It's actually $16. There is nothing wrong with taking advantage of a store's mistake. It's their policy to give you the deal.

Do you know how many times Walmart has a display with a lower price then the actual sticker on the product? How many people get overcharged? It happens ALL the time.

mc5w20 that is not honest, someone had to pay for that, even though u didn't. i will go to autozone and buy their house brand of oil, to save myself money, and still give them a profit to keep their business open, so Walmart has to compete with someone. Walmart has lost ALL of my business - because Walmart is nothing more than an organized criminal operation in cahoots with the currency manipulating Chinese to put American OUT OF BUSINESS.
Walmart is ANTI-AMERICAN.

I also hate contributing to walmart, but because of all the different reasons that wages have not increased for many people to match inflation and whatnot, I HAVE to!! I cannot afford to pay $25 dollars for 4 qts at ADV auto when it's only $23 for 5 qts at Walmart!

I'm just saying...

There are other options, like the 5QT and a filter deal(s) available at Advance, Autozone, Napa, etc.

There's also some strong rebates on Valvoline and Mobil 1 syn available online for download. I can't bash Wal-Mart because I've bought stuff there, but honestly a couple of bucks is worth it NOT to have to travel to my local one, which is abnormally cramped even by Walmart standards...

Yeah I guess I just haven't seen a deal that suits me. Either the oil is wrong or it's the filter, guess I'm just too picky. And walmart is the closest store to me so with low prices, lots of choices and not too much traffic at this one it's hard to avoid.
