Napa was so high on their oils because of this that made me feel really good at getting three cases of Redline 5w30 for under 13$ a quart. It's been discussed. Base stock shortage due to the Hormuz situation.

+1After seeing shortages, price increases and possible changes to base oils happening recently, I’m glad I stocked up
Or just buy better oil that doesn't need those Group III materials. You can get Royal Purple HPS 5w30 for 10.00 a qt, so its gonna work out for you in the end with a better product. We should.. if only temporarily until this Iran thing is over.

I did an oil change on a 2021 CRV 1.5T yesterday and the oil level was over by 8%; reeked of fuel.We all could probably go a couple thousand miles longer on a OCI and our engine would never notice. I say that as someone who's stomach hurts if I go past 5000 miles, especially in my Sienna, where the oil level grows in the winter time.
Was the vehicle frequently short tripped?I did an oil change on a 2021 CRV 1.5T yesterday and the oil level was over by 8%; reeked of fuel.
We made ALL of our own stuff 50-60 years ago, and we never had ANY of these problems...this is what we get when we outsource everything...
I never said, or implied we'd be richer. My statement was to point out that we wouldn't be having the shortages of almost everything we're having now...After WWII, the industrial base of many countries were decimated. The US didn't thrive because we made everything. The U.S. thrived because we had no competition. If you look at a chart of per capita incomes, the U.S. is higher than most countries that you would want to compare us to. We've been the chief beneficiaries of the global order that is now under stress. It's a massive mistake to think that turning into hermits will make us wealthier. The UK tried that with Brexit and it's been a disaster for them.
I guess you hadn’t heard about the conflict in the Middle East that affected oil markets? That affected oil production facilities? That affected Gas to Liquid Plants? This is the first I've heard of a shortage. It seems there's a shortage of everything these days. What's the supposed cause of the motor oil shortage? Does big oil want to do even more price gouging?
It's just another excuse to gouge consumers...I guess you hadn’t heard about the conflict in the Middle East that affected oil markets? That affected oil production facilities? That affected Gas to Liquid Plants?
