My habits will not change. Ive got enough GC to last me almost two years. For the Jetta ive got enought Mobil 1 High Mileage for one more change.
Walmart oil $$ increase going to change habbits ??

My new habit (since coming to BITOG) is to buy good oil and filters on sale and change twice a year. Done and done.
(Though 2010 might be the year when I grit my teeth, buy those jackstands and a pan, and go back to changing my own oil.)

I stopped buying syn at $20 and saved myself another $10 and just use Mobil Clean 5000 or which ever conventional oil is at or around $10(Valvoline conventional, Castrol GTX etc). I may use Motorcraft 5w20 blend in the Xterra, just not sure it will like a 20wt oil or if it would even be wise to do so.

That's the thing, I don't go to starbucks, I don't drink soda anymore b/c of my kidney stone, and I don't buy popcorn at movies because it is a tremendous waste of money.
For the person that suggested extending my oci, I already have, when I went from conventional to synthetic, I went to a 5k oci. This is the Maximum length I am comfortable with. I worked at a Toyota dealer during the "Oil Gelling" campaign. I've seen enough sludge from 5-7.5k oil changes, that I don't want to run any more than 5k.

If you dont need low angle ramps the standard 10degree rhino ramps at autozone are excellent.

You can load up when oil is cheap with MIR, or on clearance, and sit tight when prices are high.
This year, there have been killer deals on M1, Mobil 1 Advanced Fuel Economy, Mobil 1 Extended Performance, PP (both MIR and clearance), Synpower and Edge, off the top of my head.

Use whatever shelf oil you like.

I don't care about walmart raising oil price, I only buy oil on sale with rebate when it is less than $1/qt for dino, or less than $2/qt for synthetic.

I stopped at a different WM than usual today and the PP was still $20 and the Quaker State conventional was still 9.50 for the jug. I was tempted to load up but since I have enough oil already I bought just one 5 qt. jug of 5w30 Quaker State conventional.

Obviously I am speaking in general terms here, but I am sure MANY buy the Starbucks, fountain drinks, and movie popcorn. I do KNOW, however, some of the fine rides described in here costs 40K+, then some want to skimp on oil due to a $3-$4 price difference. Pleeze.

If Wal Mart raises their oil prices i will just use the oil we use at our shop that we get delivered in drums... 5w30 conoco phillips and 10w30 conoco
I used these oil the last time wal mart raised their oil prices and liked the conoco brand oils very much the only reason i buy oil at wal mart is it was cheap and sometimes we are sooo busy at the shop i dont have time to change my own oil but if the price at wal mart goes up againi will start using the oil in the drums from conoco (great oil)
Last time the oil went up in price at wal mart it stayed on the shelves and collected dust and when i asked someone i knew who worked there at the time he laughed and said the price went up and everyone stopped coming for the oil...
I think i would be better off if the oil went up anyway because everytime i went to walmart to get oil my wife spent at least $200.00 so i will actually save

Unfortunately I live in an apartment. Ramps would be tough for me to store, and would require more room to use than jackstands. I'd have to set the ramps, then drive up onto them, and afterwards slide the car back down. So I'd need two parking spaces, not always easy to find.
