had a really weird occurrence at walmart today. was walking by the oil isle to see how mobil was doing, and this older guy in a "walmart legal dept" embroidered shirt came up and commented "doesn't seem to have gone down in price with oil". i mentioned that i was looking at the M1 stocking, and that they were having some trouble with synthetic, to which he replied ~"they make so much money, any problems they are having are great"
now i am normally not speechless, but the TILT light came on at that point. i have been employed by a walmart supplier at more than one point, and it is not a fun place to be at. anyone who doesn't think walmart isn't getting mobil oil for much below the cheapest price that anyone else is, doesn't understand how things work. yet, here this guy is (who i admit, i am only assuming works for walmart (however, who would claim to be BOTH a walmart employee AND a lawyer who wasn't????)) happy that one of walmart's major suppliers is having trouble because they make TOO MUCH MONEY??? this, from a company that makes tonnes of money on it's own, and has employment policies that are legendary??
he picked up a 5qt of 10w30 GTX and a fram filter. i kept my silence as he left, i figured he deserved no better....
