Picked up a pair of Wahl clippers at Target tonight. I am absolutely AMAZED at how well they work for the price. I was expecting some cheap chintzy clippers made in China that would pull my hair. What I got was a heavy pair of clippers Made in USA (with imported and domestic parts) that cut my hair real good and didn't pull my hair. I'm amazed they can put out such as good product for $21.99 and Made in USA to boot. It defies all laws of reality.

If you guys hate going to barbers as much as I do, you might check these out.

haha, I had one forever as well but I took it overseas and the extra voltage kinda fried it and then when I came home, it fell for the last time!

Totally worth the buy, the cut perfectly for me at least.

But my sister is now a hair stylist after finishing school for it, so it's nice to have a free hair cut without putting in your own effort!

They last a year or two. Keep your receipts. I went through 3 of their top of the line made in USA ones already.

Agreed. I've had my Wahl from Target for 6mo or so. Had a super cheap drug store (Rite-Aid) one for 6+yrs prior. I'm the only one who uses it. About a once a week head buzz.

Hello, I bought a WAHL (complete kit, forget the model #) for my brother to trim his little dog.
He doesn't use it (they go to a groomer) nor does he let me borrow it to clip our sister's little dog.
All-in-all a very unsatisfying purchase (Ha-Ha).

Everyone stresses the importance of keeping the cutting shears lubed. Kira

Yeah i have the pair with the color coded clip on combs and i use it to shave my cat. It works great. The clipper is very quiet and my cat will lay their and purr when i shave him, he is usually afraid of most electric motors. It certainly beats taking him to the groomers where he freaks out and is an emotional mess days later. If my cat likes it i like it plus is is very nicely built.

oilBabe cuts my head every 4-6 weeks with the #2 or #3 clipper using a Whal home haircut kit. We bought a separate small trimmer for sideburns and other detail work. Lost the last one because it was dropped on the front porch and broke. Can't blame that on the clippers.

I finally got sick of beard trimmers and their cheap junky combs. So I bought an Oster Classic 76. Had to buy the right blade for it so in all it was about $150. Best money I've ever spent on personal grooming. I also just bought an Andis t trimmer so I am good to go now. This combo should last me years and years as it only gets used ever 2-3 weeks. The quality cut is so much better.

Now if I could get my wife to cut my hair I'd be golden. I tried to do it on my own once, we'll leave it at that. I do like my barber with the straight blade trimming.

What is the model name?

You must have soft, thin, fine hair. I have one nephew that I cut and his hair is very thick and coarse.

I suppose the type of hair these clippers engage, enters-into their life expectancy.

The cutting parts on these clippers can be replaced. Also, I think, if you are skillful with a sander you can sharpen them. Whether or not it is economically advantageous to do so is a separate question. All the handle portion does is vibrate the two halves of the cutter against each other.

I have the same Chrome Home Pro kit that aquarius posted earlier. Had it for years...probably 10 years now. My wife buzzes my head every few weeks with a #2 guard. My hair styling rule is if I have to comb my hair in the morning, it's too long. Or if I can feel it waving about with open car windows, it's too long.

Our Wahl was also made in the USA. Great value. I've been using a $20 clipper for 10 years straight...as opposed to a $10 haircut (at the least) once a month (again, at the least). That's easily $1,200 in haircuts saved over the past decade.

RE: Clippers & pets.

I'm interested in a set of clippers, *IF* they will work on my dog. Relatively small, a "mutt terrier" pound dog, 30 lbs on a 22 lb frame, about 10 yrs old now. Hair/fur is thick, a little wavy but not curly. I'd probably only clip her about 3 or 4 times a year. Are the blue handled clippers linked in the OP's post really pretty quiet? If so, they might work for a year or three anyway- even give 'em a good cleaning & use 'em on me, at least mustache & sideburns. FWIW, the doggie sits for me every day while I go over her completely with a pin-type brush first, & then a fine-tooth flea comb. I figure since she likes this so much(hey, it's extra pettin'!

), if the clippers are quiet enough & cut well enough I can work her into it. Any advice appreciated.
