Does anyone have any thoughts on whether Fram Extraguard filters, that sell for maybe a quarter of what these OEM/German brands cost, is as good. I have been spending on VW OEM filters on my 2017, but wondering if that is justifiable.

Define "as Good".
The VW filters are synthetic and mesh/wire backed. Extra Guards (PH) are not.

Well.. the Honda engines with their Fram A02 filters on double oci's probably wiping out most German cars longevity with their mesh/wire backing afaik.. I prefer German cars but still there is this.
and if the engines are still good on some of the German cars, which many of them I am sure this is the case.. the question still goes to Honda with the very high mileage engines.. What negatives came from their many on double oci basic blue filters ??
