Oil filters I’ve used on previous changes have a little tab on the bottom that plugs into the housing. Just ordered a Hengst figuring it’s an OE supplier part, and no tab. Does any know what that tab does? Block a bypass passage? Or is it just there to align the filter in the housing?

We used champ P 989 filter. That tit or tan clicks into hole on bottom. If using filter without it at idle your oil lamp will come on. So the tan is necessary.

Son has same vehicle. Only filter that ever sees that 3.6L is the Mahle OX417D. Made in S. Korea and is OE filter for Hyundai.
