I Have 240,000 miles on my front differential and had its rebuilt but wonder what fluid brand I should run,

These units see a lot of load and stress, I currently have Amsoil 70w90 SG, but is there a better option for a better oil ?

What vehicle and year? The Porsche branded differential fluid has crossover with VW and Audi. The one that gets universally suggested is motul 300 and I have that in my Macan rear diff. Amsoil makes very good gear oils so it's probably just as good sticking with that. If it's heavily loaded, going up the high temperature viscosity wouldn't hurt anything.

Look up the exact fluid spec and buy a fluid that is approved for that spec. With German cars I use OE trans and diff fluids only, they cost more, sometimes a lot more but nowhere near as much as a new trans of diff. Peace of mind is priceless.

What has been in it before? Seems 240K is pretty good before being rebuilt. The Severe Gear is a great choice though.
Was stock fluid till about 170k is then switched to Motul 75w90 and I think that's when I started to notice a whine one day on a 17-hour drive. I had been running Motul 75w-90 for about 2.5 years and looking at it claims 30k and 1 year and I went way over that when before towing a car 1400 miles. I have head should switch to Amsoil SG 75w-110 but not sure if that will help or add drag.

2014 cayenne diesel, these are the fluids I have been running in 75w-90.

I do the drivetrain fluids in my Touareg every 30k. Diffs, t-case, and transmission.

I have been using Valvoline 75W-90 in the differentials, Rock Oil in the t-case, and whatever in transmission, mostly Maxlife.
