VW 508 Liqui Moly or Motul?

As you stated meeting the application and everything else being equal. Why not look at the marketing difference?

Yes, thanks for asking. 😉
There is marketing difference. It is designed for gullible ones.
In 90’s they literally built their name by advertising HC oils as superior ones, while others were embarrassed to admit they are blending oils with HC base. They kept it for their cheapest stuff.
Unless you cut out “advance,” blend it with rest if the oil, what Overkill said about solvents.

Both in the 0w20 flavor from FCP Euro since I am going to invest in their return program.

There is a minimal price difference.
Made a major effort (for me) and did my third VAG OC with Motul. A noisy 1.4L TSi. backed by a stick,. Drove out the Dealer service bay one mile up the road and declared "Too Thin!". Two weeks later I added some M1 0W40FS - only after 3/4 of a litre of the new juice had burnt off. My oft told tale here.

Then all was well. Oil was in for eight months and ran stupendous always. But my "sloppy" engine absolutely needed some additional M1 0W40FS to run properly and quietly. Somewhat surprising.

If I had to do it all again (back then) I would venture to the Porsche+Audi dealer in Stratham and grab a few litres of the VAG 508

Anything that meets 508 is going to be very good. I’ve used the Liqui Moly and had no complaints, however I see from the links the Motul is green so clearly superior. 🤣
Big German Castrol vibes here.

Honestly I have been thinking going 0w30 anyways once it gets a tune in the next week.

So I guess 507 spec now 😅

You weren't around for the rave that was GC I assume.

A 0w30 with green dye and it smelled like gummy bears.
Lol, yes I know what you talking about.
But, post indicates like it has 507, which it doesn’t.
And that was not dye, it was Kettjenlube, an additive made by Kyocera at that time. When they sold it to LukOil, Castrol stopped using it.
