This is going out to fellow Nissan Vq35 owners how long are your OCI'S, im running Mobil 1 0w40 and plan on changing in 4K if it doesn't go on oil binge lol

Depends on the year VQ35.
I had the oil burning years and I tended to extend the oil change a bit longer because there was always make up oil. The only problem is the VQ35 is fairly hard on oil so you sorta have to strike a fine balance. I would normally do like 4k on that engine, but I did about 5K on stuff like QSUD 10w30.

I think the M1 0w40 will be great in the VQ35. Could probably do 5K with that stuff fairly easily.

Every 3,000-3,750 miles as required by Nissan for most driving conditions. I have been using (and will continue) to use Valvoline SynPower 5w-30 since it is recommended for Nissan Ester applications, and my 2010 Altima is an application where Nissan is now recommending Ester.

ya i have the 02 Maxima motor so its very useful to run a 40 viscosity.

The oil type really isn't relevant. The oil change intervals should be followed regardless of oil type unless the user wishes to spend a considerable amount of money on oil analysis (which may or may not be accurate). Regardless of the oil used, it will still become contaminated.

you also have to consider the oil consumption issue for the OCI, I know you can top it off.

It is.
I would say you are on the right track, just stick to your plan and monitor the oil level (as you already know)
My 02 Maxima burned more oil than my 96 Saturn does. I also found as I went longer into the OCI, the oil pressure light would stay on longer at startup. The oil was getting beaten down near the end of the interval, so that is why I think 4K is suitable for your car.

Interesting you say that in the frigid weather hear the oil light stays on a little bit longer.

Who recommends Valvoline Synpower 5w-30? Nissan?

By Valvoline, of course. Nissan only recommends their Genuine Ester oil.

I have been runnning 6,000-7,000 miles with no sign of problems. It uses a quart about every 5,000 miles. I use semi-synthethic and extended range oil fiter.

You are doing great if that is all your car uses.
My 2002 used the entire sump worth of oil by the time I'd hit 5K miles. Some people had it even worse.

Mobil 1 0w40 along with the Mobil 1 filter M1-105 is the best combination I have found. I change my oil at 3,750 miles or 3 months just like Nissan recommends. I have tried other oils and found viscosity breakdown to be significant.

That was my finding with QSUD 10w30 too. Seemed to thin greatly near the end of the interval.

On the contrary i called several Nissan dealerships even though it doesnt apply to my car, they ALL used Mobil 1 Synthetic for there synthetic oil change.

Does the M1-105 have clearance. Finally Someone that uses the same combination as i do. NO VALVOLINE! again not trying to start a war but that is my personal opinion.

Grambo, you never listed the year, nor vehicle that the engine is in... therefore I don't know whether this will fit your application. What I do know is Nissan places a small block of metal near the oil filter on the newer cars to prevent oversize filters. The Infinity & Nissan forum members Dremel away some of the block so they can install the oversize M1-105.
That is the mod I would do if I wanted to install the oversize filter.

You're kidding? The entire sump? Man I am surprised- I thought my '01 M-B is bad at 1 quart per 1,500-2k miles. Guess I do not know that much about the VQ and its various versions...
