Hello all,

I bought an Volvo V40 - D4 with an 2.0 5 cylinder diesel-engine. On websites like Shell lube Match, Total, Castrol and Kroon Oil it says it needs 0W30.

The garage where I bought the car from added 5W30, can this be an issue? Can I go back to 0W30 or should I let it as 5W30?

Thanks in advance!

There is more to the Volvo spec than just viscosity. There is an ACEA requirement as well.

What year is your Volvo V40?

what year? presuming a 2012~~ with the 5cylinder it spec's
Oil grade: ACEA A5/B5 Viscosity: SAE 0W–30

What 5w30?
I don't know the brand some European one with the name "gas" on it. It's an fully sent. oil.

You know if!
What country? Unless you're starting it at -20°F it should be fine.
Netherlands but go in July on vacation to Morocco

I would probably change it since you dont know if it meets the specs.
a short interval will likely not cause issues.

or ask garage what oil it was.
if it meets or exceeds ACEA A5/B5 it should be ok.
