Volkswagon Has A Clue

I am comparing businesses. Tesla is bigger than the next 6 car companies combined. And was founded in 2003...
Cars tend to be subjective; people buy what they want vs what is best for them.
Businesses are objective; Tesla is killing it in this regard.
No, it is not bigger. It is not bigger in terms of the number of factories, employees etc. So when you compare production "issues" you have to take that into consideration, not market value.

I suggest you Google VW crisis meeting
Yeah and? They want to be efficient as much, MUCH smaller Tesla. OK. The bigger the organization the more problems. If they achieve same efficiency this big as Tesla, then they are doing much better than Tesla.
Another thing is that Tesla has the advantage of youth. It is a young company that does not have legacy issues that come in every organization with time. Space shuttle Challenger and Columbia disasters were consequences of an organizational culture that resulted in mechanical failures.
Give a decade, and Tesla will have some meetings, hopefully. If not, eventually we will have to bail out Tesla.

Eye opening comments....

"Tesla, but also the many new Chinese manufacturers, produce cheaper and faster. The quality of their vehicles is getting better and better and has now reached European standards. Consequence: According to auto experts at the Kearney management consultancy, more than 70 percent of Chinese customers have already decided to buy their next premium vehicle from a Chinese manufacturer. Reasons: top quality, affordable price. From their point of view, German models like the ID.4 cannot keep up.

Brandstätter, who is not said to have the very best relationship with the CEO, agrees with Diess in the crisis round: It is urgently necessary that the course in Wolfsburg be set again, according to Brandstätter. Future competition with Tesla’s new Gigafactory will be brutal. The electric car pioneer would set new standards in car production. A Tesla 3 is built in ten hours, more than three times as fast as a VW ID.3 in Zwickau. This puts Tesla in a different dimension when it comes to productivity and profitability."

...but not not being in denial is the first step to success after crisis. I really have no concern VW will be fine in the EV future.

That's exactly my point. Tesla is much more efficient, agile and better managed.
And has financial might far beyond any other car maker.

From a market cap standpoint, Tesla dwarfs VW.
Cars tend to be subjective; people buy what they want vs what is best for them.
Businesses are necessarily objective; Tesla is killing it in this regard.

"Tesla does not have what other guys have: products for regular, middle-class people."
This used to be true and is generally true today. But things are changing.
Musk and others believe the Model Y will be Tesla's biggest seller and most profitable vehicle in the next coming years.
If and when the Model 2 arrives, watch out world.

Tesla's considerable financial might and technologies are the advantages they have over other car companies.
Yeah - most folks here that drive SUV’s and pickups can easily afford a model 3 … and those in luxury SUV’s can afford the S … for some, Tesla is just something they have not experienced yet -
Heck - in my village of 11k I just saw a C8, a Jaguar, new Escalade, and a Bentley coupe - money Is still flowing 😷
(and some Super Duty and Denali trucks costing more than my first house) …

You make a great point. I can easily afford a Model Y Performance, it's in the same price bracket as my last three SRT GC's. My hang ups I've already articulated, which are interior materials selection and the lack of a HUD.

When I’m in the EU - it’s crazy to see the high end luxury brands all making large SUV’s … maybe it’s time for Tesla to make a very roomy and plush SUV 😷

I am a huge fan of the futuristic, minimalist interior, vegan leather, etc. Teslas need HUD and BSM on the outside mirrors.
Gonna hafta write Elon a nasty email.

The minimalism doesn't bother me, I just would like real leather and a HUD. Make it a bit more upscale inside.

The model 3 I rode in didn’t even have a grab handle for the rear seat passenger.

Yeah, I wasn't in love with the Model 3 I drove either. It was fast, but it kinda felt like a Yaris with a big screen inside and fewer buttons.

Don't get me wrong, it handled well and was comfortable, but it was clearly a downgrade in the interior department over my Jeep.

Only from a market cap standpoint. And their evaluation is a load of crap. No serious investor would invest in it because it is basically nonsense.

I love how Tesla has managed to convince people that "vegan leather", which is just plastic, and no buttons are selling features. It is done purely because it is cheaper. Buttons cost money to put in a car.

I was under the impression that VW was ahead of most when it came to non-animal skin seating as Autogefühl states it?

On the flip side of that, it would be a waste to not use the animal hides for something. That is just good practice.

As for the blind spot indicators in the mirrors, the HUD is the better place for them IMO. I have that in the CX5. The HUD is my first glance before doing a lane change and that is easier since it is in my direct site view. I thought the mirror indicators were mandated by regulation?
