I had begun a thread to see if anyone had any data on STP oil treatment, insofar as a VOA or perhaps a used oil analysis where the STP was used.

I had thought of using it to beef up the ZDDP in a motorcycle oil.

GM EOS (engine oil suppliment) has about 10 - 15 times as much ZDDP as a typical oil. It should be the cheapest way to get ZDDP.

STP....Some poeple love it some thing it's snake oil. It didn't show up in a search so spend your $20 and let us know how it turns out.

The only variable you will increase is your viscosity with direct corelation to your decreasing wallet size.

Stick with an HDEO or similar if you want ZDDP.

If the oil already is in the bike you could pour in some Synpower Oil Treatment as it has higher levels of ZDDP. There is a VOA recently on this site. Since the 15 oz bottle probably treats about 4-6 qts, I expect you should put no more than half the bottle in the bike, at most.

What is it about that STP stuff that it stays on the market all these years. Who actually uses it. All I have to to is shake the bottle and see that the stuff inside doesn't really shake with it and I know it ain't going in my crankcase.

The Synpower will shake and strangely, on the first one or two shakes it is fairly stiff, and then loosens up--non Neutonian or something?
