Hi I received these from a friend for an old but new (unused) oil his employer kept in a 200 Liter drum.

V40 95.12°C
V100 12.30°C
FP 218.0°C
PP -35.2°C
Calcium 1450ppm
TBN 8.4
Insolubles Nil
Water 0.1%

does it look like a XXw-30 or XXw-40 oil ?

Huh?
There are many 30 grade hdeo's made for diesels, what makes this unsuitable unless its not rated for diesels.

TBN 8.4 seems low for diesel grade ?

Depends on what kind of diesel. Many modern diesel engines have DPF and require low SAPS (low TBN) oil to protect it.

OP,

Is the drum not labelled? Do you have any other info from the analysis that can be posted? Was there any Zinc or Phosphorus in the oil?

Thanks,

Very good point and will try to get a picture of drum from my friend.

I did ask but Zinc/Phosphorus not tested/reported !
