Good Morning folks. Had this filter I scored at AAP for under $1 and decided to see what quality was like. Kinda wavy pleats and glad I cut it.

Made June 2019. Made in USA also.

I believe Toyota contracted Purolator during the pandemic period to allieviate supply issues.
I went down a rabbit hole going back to the early to mid 2000's and it seems Purolator and DENSO have had both a partnership and working relationship in the past of making filters together and for each other. So it would not be out of the ordinary for Purolator to occasionally be an alternate supplier.

What aftermarket filters would you say the typical Toyota filters like 90915-YZZG2 and 90915-YZZD3 are most similar to?
Toyota D3 is Fram 3600 size. Toyota G2 is probably Fram 3614 size. They used to sell the G2 years ago, I think it was the common 3614 size, which is also Toyota D1. Without looking it up on the Fram site. I think it must be the Denso factory can’t keep up, every Toyota dealer in the country is installing many Densos per day.

Investigating the drain valves further I have found old ones that have a duller black finish and are less springy with a little memory. The newer filters have shiny drain valves with ARS written on them and are silicone. Springy with no memory as springy gets.
