I went to a vintage speedway meeting yesterday, as an old friend
(double meaning these days) rides his flattracker there. a range of stuff, they even had gocarts with slicks out there.
An Offy or two.
V8 60.
The Aussies know this as a Grey Holden engine, we usually called them a Sideplate.
Real old.
Model A?
A bit more modern.
VW.
Even more modern.
Nice Weslake.
Owl's TT500. He raced this in the '80's, and held our No1 Plate with it. A change of wheels and he road raced it. Sold it, years later got it back, rebuilt it and road raced it again. Now it's back in dirttrack trim, and he tries to get back a bit of the old thrill with it. New speedway rear tyres all round today.
I have been going to speedway since I was a kid, and probably seen most of these on the track in their day.
