This is regarding my '96 Crown Vic. It is approaching 148k miles.

On the previous 6k mile OCI with Valvoline Maxlife Synthetic 5-30 and Bosch Premium filter, oil consumption was 1qt/1000 miles.

On this OCI with M1 5-30 API SM and MoCraft filter, consumption has been 1qt/600-700 miles. The PCV is good with no gunk in it (it's less than 12k miles old).

Make up oil has been 1qt M1 10-30, 1qt M1 0-30, and today 1qt Castrol Syntec Blend 5-20 (all from my shrine of discounted oil).

Why is the Vic using more oil with M1?

Any thoughts?

Although the M1 came from PepBoys B3G3 free days, it's costing more $$ with increased consumption.

Nah....really?

This is nothing new with Mobil-1 -- how it shows increased consumption in some cases. You are not a new poster here at BITOG. I'm sure this is no surprise really.

On the other shoe, there are alot of us doing extended miles with no Mobil-1 consumption. I have no consumption issues with a 2nd vehicle too.... that one using Pennzoil Platinum.

I still feel the older, high mileage vehicles that grew up on dino - should stay with group-3 and under.

yes 3x7, I have seen that before here.

It just pss'd me off.

It was doing great on the Maxlife Syn.

I'm going back to it after this OCI.

Will the M1 affect future consumption?

All my M1 and M1EP stash will be going to all "newer" vehicles from now on.
