Vehicle Sighting - Saab 93 (c. late 1950s)

We saw this beast last week in Walker, Minnesota. It looks to be set up for rally driving.

About 25 years ago, Car and Driver had a hilarious article by John Phillips called "Around New Zealand In A Can Opener", featuring a 1959 Saab 93. I had never seen one until a few days ago.

Two-stroke 750 cc 33 hp!

I have an ‘old car book’ from the 70’s that has lots of pics of rally’s-racing mini’s and Saabs like this one!
I have a massive book called "My Dad Had That Car". Great fun, but it only covers domestics 1920 - 1990. I wish they would do an import version.
 
When I was living at Penn State Harrisburg Dorms in 1977, I jump started one of those that an other student owned. We did not have jumper cables, so I put the front bumper of my 1976 Volare Coupe touching that vehicles front bumper, and made the + connection by placing his L lug-nut wrench with the lug-nut section against his battery +, and placed the lug-nut section of my L lug-nut wrench against the + of my vehicles battery, then held the two other ends together tightly while wearing winter gloves, and told him to try starting it, and it fired right up. Then told him to drive it to an auto-parts store without shutting it off and have them test the battery.

Good workaround! I assume you confirmed that the Swedes were not using the Brit "positive earth" setup.

I finally drew a schematic of how positive ground worked, which confirmed that booster cables still went from + to + and - to -.
 
Some of it is starting to come back to me. There was a GT version (or was it called a Monte Carlo). That may have been the four stroke version by then. That was the 'hot rod', maybe for rallying?
