Nice! I figured Pennzoil & Rotella are both made by M&H so you would expect quality to be the same. That PZ filter almost looks like a knock off but I don't know much about them. Oil getting a bit dark so I'm sure there were 5k+ miles on it. Thanks!

Well, as we all know it’s from a diesel 6.7 Cummins turbo engine. After 1 minute running post oil change oil is blacker than black.

I no longer associate “quality” with anything Mann+Hummel

I’m a Fram fanboy, always have and always will be. Even Super Tech filters are better than Pennzoil filters now

Almost appears the oil ran hotter than usual. Also it makes me wonder if running basic cummins spec. oil, such as Mobil 1300, not having enough additives over a long OCI that it allows more oxidation inside the oil system.

Couldn’t say

Is that after the filter was put in a fire or left in the rain?

Yes I practice recycling. The recycling center here takes them also but who doesn’t love a nice fire
Ah Yes, an oiled up filter acting as a tiki torch...the more used & oiled the filter is the better...breathe in/breath out... nothing quite like it. lol

Well, I was away from the smoke. If I didn’t do that I’d wait til’ fall and take em’ to friends garage. He has old wood/coal furnace and he likes them for getting fire started

With my Ram this looks pretty normal for an OCI. Emissions in tact diesel engines tend to blacken oil very quickly. Pre emission and modified diesels tend to take a little longer to blacken oil.

Just my $0.02

It's interesting & I completely understand what your saying. I agree but I know on my 95' F250 7.3L it would darken the oil faster & turn darker than my F350 6.0L with emissions intact. That being said the ol 7.3L had a good chunk of blow by & leaked everywhere.

To make your point I had a 2.2L GM ecotec that had no EGR from the factory. It was the cleanest running oil over any amount of miles I've owned.
