I just picked up a copy of car and driver nov. 8 issue and read an ad from valvoline that states: VALVOLINE SYN POWER OFFERS 4X BETTER PROTECTION THAN MOBIL 1.
there's a new standard in protection.Independent lab testing shows that syn power provides 4x better wear protection than mobil 1. Synpower is the only leading full synthetic formulated with more durable anti-wear additives that stay in oil longer. valvoline.com/synpower

HEAT DEPOSITS WEAR

Did anyone else see this

The reason they don't compare it to PP or Amsoil is because M1 is all Joe Sixpack cares about.

Straight from Joe's Mind:
"Amsoil? What's that, some kinda French [censored]?"
"Pennzoil? That [censored] causes waxy engines."
"Mobil One... I heard that's what NASCAR likes! The bottle looks WICKED!"
"I need to get me another beer."

Marketing departments know how to play these people. The TV said Mobil 1 is the best oil ever. Now the TV says SynPower is 4x as good... Must be true... Must...buy...

(Not to mention that the test they used to get those results sucks.)

The Seq IVA test is mainly for evaluating sludge formation under lower temperature conditions. It is severe on cam shaft wear and is a pass/fail test to meet GF-4. It's a good test for evaluating that particular type of wear under grandma driving conditions.

HOLY bleep!

My Valvoline Synpower rebate check showed up today, 11/24...I forgot when I sent it off, but it's been months. This marks the day, thinking back about a decade or so, when I have actually received a rebate check.

LOL
