Valvoline Restore and Protect drawbacks?

The so-called Turbos in today's Engines are Liquid Cooled? What is the weight of the oil these engines are specking? It is either 5W-30 or a lower grade.

What I've seen is that the turbo version of the same engine typically gets a grade higher than the non-turbo version.

Was thinking about the long-term ramifications of using Valvoline Restore and Protect. Just wondering if there are any downsides to using it. Could Valvoline Restore and Protect be harder on engine gaskets and seals than other oils? Because it chews up sludge and varnish, could it also chew on gaskets and seals?

Oh man, that’s all that’s keeping my 2005 Taurus together.

2009 K24 Acura TSX Nothing but Amsoil Signature from day one and guess what, oil consumption started around 80k miles. By 120k miles it was buring a quart every 1500 miles. I did a Berryman B-12 piston soak and that got the oil consumption down massively. So no, Amsoil is not immune to ring-land carbon buildup.

No I never went longer than that. I used Trip B just for oil changes and reset the Maintenance Minder with trip because Honda/Acura wanted me to go almost 9k miles otherwise. The car was totaled out at 135k from hitting a Deer. One of the better cars I owned.

I don’t think it would have any negative impact on gaskets and/or seals, at all.

The only drawback I see is the lack of a 0W-40 competitor to Mobil 1 ESP X4 0W-40.

So chemistry dictates that the carbon itself is not being dissolved, it is being dislodge by having its adhesion degraded. It's fundamentally a mechanical removal even if by chemical means.

So, the VRP oil doesn't disolve the carbon, just dislodges it from its location. Then how that carbon goes through the oil pick up screen and oil filter if it's just been dislodged, but not dissolved?
