Got some vlavoline maxlife oil additive, for cars over 75,000 miles... just over 100,000 here, 95 plymouth neon. What is this stuff? I wanna try it for my next OCI soon. HOw much thicker does it make a 5w 30 or 10w 30 oil? Valvoline all climate to be specific. Might it coke up things under the valve cover? Looking for some extra protection for my car, for the humid sumemr coming here in southwest CT, LOTS of stop n go traffic.
Thanks all:)

It shouldn't thicken things up much, it isn't nearly as stout and additive pack as Valvoline Synpower Oil treatment, but it does have the seal protection "stuff". If your running Valvoline oil, I would definetly fortify it, and this is a decent choice.

SO, fortify it, how about CD 2 yellow botl stuff? Ive used it before, and it kept the oil looking very descent in my fathers car, kinda like LC 20 did for my oil. Made blackened fresh oil look new. The reason i say blackened, is becuase of LOTS of stop n go traffic. So Vsot, you are reffering to the quart synthetic stuff, right? I am unable to locate Valvoline Vsot, the grey concentreatd stuff, guess its been discontinued...
Any other recommendations?

Instead of using regular Valvoline and adding this additive, why don't you just buy the Valvoline Maxlife oil that is blended the way it was intended to be.

Yeah, ive alwasy been curious of maxlife oil...
Johnny, are you recommending the dino maxlife oil, or the synthetic? IM kinda wearry of synthetics, becaseu about 2 or 3 yeas ago, i was using mobile 1 5w 30, never had a leak, and then one day, i changed my oil, ame outside next day, and discovered a HUGE puddle of fresh oil under car, from rear main i think, which was replaced. About a quart, quart and half jsut drained out! SO i am guessinf its so thin and cleand so well, it literally leked out. So, the dino maxlife i guess?

Regular Valvoline Maxlife has always been a synthetic blend from what I have read, but it is just recently that the label now says so. Valvoline Maxlife (full) synthetic is a very good oil and would probably be one of the better synthetics to use in an older engine due to its slightly higher viscosity (ACEA A3,B4) and seal conditioning additives. I just got a bunch of this oil on clearance at AAP for $3.25 a quart, which is a good deal for me as it carries most of the latest euro specs like BMW LL-04. I don't mind using this oil in newer cars, either.

Yep, all respect to Johnny, I walked into AAP to buy some BOGO PP and instead walked out with a bag-full of Maxlife Synth on clearance.

Fear not, half my stash (at least) is SOPUS of one variety or another. They'll keep sending you those checks, Johnny.

I just picked up the Maxlife 75000 mile at local Big Lots for $1 a bottle, will use it in my camp diesel generator. Is there any reason it would not run in wife's 06 caravan with Valvoline oil I use??? I am down to 15 bottles of SLOB and hate to share with her.
