Valvoline Extended Protection ATF .... ZF 8 speed

I used a generic MV ATF in a GA8HP45Z and about one year later, it still shifts good (way better than when it came in); I replaced the filter/pan assembly at the same time.

And you see nothing wrong with returning consumable maintenance items?
It is allowed and encouraged by FCP Euro, as it is part of their marketing strategy. If it was not, they would not allow it, simple as that. You can certainly choose to take your "high road" and not return items...that is totally your choice. No one should do what they are not comfortable with, including FCP Euro.

There is an entire thread dedicated to BITOG members returning their motor oil after each change. I am not doing that, as the I have inexpensive alternatives.

Read their policy: https://www.fcpeuro.com/page/lifetime-guarantee
  • Does this really include every part you sell?

Yes, our lifetime replacement covers every single part we sell, including wear-and-tear items like brake pads, spark plugs, gaskets, rotors, filters, belts, wiper blades, etc. This covers every part across every brand, including OE, OEM, genuine, performance, aftermarket, and re-manufactured parts.

I order two plus kits plus other stuff at a time. I never just send one kit back. My refunds are usually 200 plus.

FCP and consumables is in practice no different than when I broke a Craftsman tool and exchanged it for a new one at Sears. They made the offer, I didn't take advantage of them.

I dropped my pan, changed filter, and filled with Valvoline Extended Protection on my gladiator a few hundred miles back at 32,xxx miles. The Mopar/ZF fluid that came out was the consistency of water, at best. Shifts fine after the changeover and temps are normal. I can’t imagine I’ll be going back to the ZF/Mopar fluids.

About 7,000 miles. Zero issues so far, it shifts great.
I'm interested in hearing any updates. I'm sure you've both put on some more miles since your original posts.

I'd run it, especially in a PPE pan where you can change it easily. It is cheap and supposedly better than their Max Life, which many use with no issues. I'd probably drain/fill once a year with that PPE pan, or maybe every 25k or so.

I'm running Red LIne D6 in my Gladiator with no issues since early October. So a good percentage is still the factory fill. I'll probably drain and fill again this summer, but if I do a PPE, I'll consider going to the Valvoline. Their Valvoline Restore and Protect transmission fluid also is rated for the ZF 8 speed.

I just ordered 2 gallons Valvoline Restore and Protect for $30/gal from Wal-Mart. I have a PPE +1 qt pan for my Grand Cherokee. I did have Amsoil Signature Series for it, but I'm going to sell it locally so that I can do the triple change to get more of the old fluid out at a more reasonable price. And it will be cheaper to service more frequently as well. Lastly, Valvoline MaxLife just seems so proven in these transmissions and how close the viscosity of Valvoline Restore and Protect is to Valvoline MaxLife, the Valvoline Restore and Protect seems like a safer bet than Amsoil. One more lastly... Valvoline's new formulations seem to be knocking it out of the park. That Saudi money is really working. :D

I use Amsoil signature series fuel efficient ATL on my 2018 Ram 1500 with the ZF8. Three drain and fills and a PPE pan. 16k miles, so far so good. Very smooth shifts.
