I am at 16k miles, so not anywhere near servicing my ZF. I’m looking at the PPE and the Ravenol. Keep us posted whatever you decide to do.Anyone running Valvoline Extended Protection ATF in the ZF 8 speed? How's it going? thinking of doing a ppe pan in the spring wondering if it's worth it over the maxlife I'm running now
How long have you been running the HPL? From what I have read, the ZF 9 fluid is a super-low viscosity and the only aftermarket fluid that has been specifically formulated for it is Pentosin.I’m running HPL Green Cold Climate in a ZF 9 speed and happy with it. Not the same in either case but a data point nonetheless.
Thanks! Good to know it works.I dropped my pan, changed filter, and filled with VEP on my gladiator a few hundred miles back at 32,xxx miles. The Mopar/ZF fluid that came out was the consistency of water, at best. Shifts fine after the changeover and temps are normal. I can’t imagine I’ll be going back to the ZF/Mopar fluids.
I do - got it for $20/L on eBay …No one uses the factory ZF Lifeguard 8 fluid?
About 7,000 miles. Zero issues so far, it shifts great. How long have you been running the HPL? From what I have read, the ZF 9 fluid is a super-low viscosity and the only aftermarket fluid that has been specifically formulated for it is Pentosin.
I would love to not pay the premium for the OEM fluid, but I am hesitant with how sensitive and finicky I have read about the ZF 9 being overall in general.
i did for my first 2 drain and fill, now i change to shell spirax s6 atf xNo one uses the factory ZF Lifeguard 8 fluid?
You certainly can but it is like $20-25 a quart . Most people are looking at the cost .No one uses the factory ZF Lifeguard 8 fluid?

FCP Euro, one and done. I send it back and get store credit. Use pirateship.com for inexpensive return shipping. So my second and all subsequent services only cost me the return shipping. ($20) This includes the fill and drain plugs, gasket, filter kit and o-rings.Not when it's over $30/qt
A gallon of Maxlife is cheaper than a quart of Lifeguard![]()

I return the differential fluid, fill and drain plugs also.
Not to a company that encourages for you to do so. It's their policy not ours. And you see nothing wrong with returning consumable maintenance items?
