Valvoline Euro 0W30????

The Benz required some work to the coolant system, so while they had it in the 'independent' shop, I asked them to change the oil and filter. After leaving with the vehicle, I nearly had a MELT DOWN..... I saw they poured 0w30 in my Mercedes diesel. I'm not aware of any 0w30 that meets Mercedes diesel specs.

I read a bit more and they poured in Valvoline Euro 0w30. Upon some web research... I found this on the back of a bottle.

Could this be my new favorite for a 'Winter' oil when we have temps down in to the -20's?

This Valvoline meets 229.31 and 229.51

but its its "recommended for"

vs an oil such as Mobil 1 ESP 0w30 that lists "approvals"

You can also use Mobil 1 ESP 0w-30. I'm sure there's more out there.

The price and availability is the only issue. ESP 0w30 is well priced and readily available.

Hey BITOG. Long time lurker and now a new member. Here is a VOA of the Valvoline Euro 0W-30 from March 2025.
Also the SDS shows 20-30% "1-decene" which is Group 4 PAO. If that is wrong please correct.
