That doesn't mean 1978 M1 would pass the same testing that SP GF6A Mobil 1 Extended Performance passes today.

Regardless neither Mobil 1 Annual Protection or EP is likely to be overmatched by an 8 mo 3,000 mi oci.

1978 vehicles or oil are no match for today's technology. But the quality of ingredients sure seem similar between the 70s/80s Mobil 1 and EP of today.
I never mentioned the AP of 10 or-so years ago. Talk about a short-lived item. Seemed to just sit on store shelves until it was clearanced-out a year or two later.

Valvoline Extended Protection High Mileage is my go-tO off the shelf oil. my other is PUP.

I run that in my ram 1500 ......love it

I was going through MSDS one night (the things we do for fun). I know they can change often.

However, I noticed the MaxLife version of Valvoline Extended Protection was almost entirely GTL. Interesting!

Valvoline Extended Protection would be one of my first picks or Pennzoil ultra platinum at wall mart,,great oils for the price, watch for possible rebates over the holiday season.

Hi everyone,

I am a loyal follower of Mobil 1 Extended Performance 5w30 oil. I use it in everything. Well unfortunately on my latest trip to Walmart, the Mobil 1 was sold out.

I had to buy this Valvoline product as a substitute. Is it a decent oil? Is it on par with the Mobil 1 product? I assume it’s not as good as the Mobil EP, but hopefully it’s at least close in quality.

Yeah right. It’s not even SP rated.

It’s not so rated because it’s a euro oil aimed at cars that don’t use API ratings. Based on its spec approvals it would easily pass SP testing
