Valvoline 0w-20 not appropriate for my Cmax?

I had a 2016 C-Max and you can put anything in them including that but it isn't needed...any modern 0w20 or 5w20 synthetic works great

What does your owner's manual specify for engine oil? What oil did Valvoline's chat recommend for your engine?
I'll have to search online, as I'm a bit hobbled by a knee replacement just 12 days ago, and the manual is in the car, in the dark, and across a rather treacherous patch of snow / ice since yesterday (and I'm in no shape to shovel, for once! ha ha)! Thx..

Hopefully your recovery will be swift..

All Ford's manuals are available online. All you have to do is search.

I did a little bit of research and it appears 0W20 has been recommended by several places, including Amsoil. Don't know why Valvoline would be any different.

Oh dear, so what did they suggest? fire up that chat again and start asking questions.
She ("Torianna") sited a Ford spec (WS-something) but ended the chat before I could copy it down (probably because I gave Valvoline a little something to chew on for poor marketing (in other words they'll bait the consumer with "Hybrid Vehicle" big & bold on the FRONT label, but in fine print on the back (I suppose?) exclusive and include in the actual application.

Seems to me it should say "SOME" Hybrid's, or something to that extent on the front - I mean what I learned 50 years ago was API certification ("Starburst", I reckon) and WEIGHT. I'd have been PISSED if I'd have bought the correct API Cert, AND Weight for my Hybrid vehicle, then have their website chat person tell me I shouldn't have bought it for my Hybrid Vehicle, even though it is CLEARLY MARKETED to / for / at "Hybrid Vehicles".

The 2017 C-Max owner's manual does say to use 0w20

Valvoline says to use any 0w20 BUT the Hybrid version :sneaky:

And yes, the VRP is ok to use in your C-Max :D
The chat agent sited a Ford spec, 'WS-something-something', but then ended the chat before I could capture it, copy it, screenshot it, write it down or whatever.

And I "think" (?) I'm just now learning that "VRP" is different than the Hybrid Vehicle Full Synth that I linked in the original post, yes?

Thx in advance...

VRP is short for Valvoline Restore and Protect, their latest oil.

My 2017 C-Max Energi has been running on 0w-20 M1 EP for nearly 15,000 miles on this OCI. When it gets warm enough outside to think about an oil change it will be getting 0w-20 HPL Premium Plus. It seems to me that Valvoline is just now jumping on the hybrid oil bandwagon and hasn't fully fleshed out their database for recommendations. You could either wait for their database to catch up or use oils with demonstrated UOAs posted here.
