I went to a small, state school with super cheap tuition. I didn't even apply for a scholarship as I ditched my first choice in the summer before enrolling locally. I stayed there 7 years and got a BA in anthro and an MA in history. After private sector work while finishing my thesis, I walked into a state job right after my MA and into federal employment 2 years later. My wife went to the same school for her BA then off to med school. She definitely came out ahead, lol. Although we do love my health insurance and flexible work hours...
