used truck shopping

A part we don't think about until they speak up. I used to tow a 32' park trailer with a Dodge PowerWagon … lost drivers side on a pull. Headers went in after that and no issues. Bought one of the early GMC 2500 diesels to resume that task.
Kept Dodge, it morphed into hunting truck …

Yeah it is crazy. I have seen my old 454 light up those exhaust manifolds. I broke and replaced bolts and manifolds in that.
They came from the factory with no gaskets. I put gaskets on and better fasteners. Never had the problem again.

Manifolds and fasteners are Much better today but still not uncommon to get a leak from a crack/warped manifold or broken fastener.

I noticed on my new 6.0 there are reliefs cut in the manifold for changes in expansion and larger fasteners than in my 02.
