This is off my 2011 GMC Canyon 5.3. It had 5200 on filter, 60k on pickup when changed. PUP 5-30. I usually change oil once a year around 3500mi but this went 20 months. I've owned this since July 2017 at 30.5k and changed oil 8 times.
Looked like some sparkles in the media but when I changed the light angle they appeared to be carbon wedged into the bottom of the pleat. They rubbed right into my finger. No metal or grit.
Just out of curiosity, I'm going to let this end cap sit overnight with the oil in it.

Great work. Better pics than me. I Thank You sir

This is the only filter that made my Yukon run about 10 psi below normal oil pressure shortly before it was time to change oil. The oil was the usual PP 5W30 and I struggle to believe that I have a sludge problem changing PP at 30 - 40% life on the OLM. Back to the ACDelco Ecore which was never a problem.

Looks like all the new M1 filters will be under Highline Warren, and no more M+H made version except for old stock on the shelves.

Bypass valves typically don't leak. If they do, it's a super small leak ... nothing even close to a leak that can be from a ruffled/warped leaf spring.
