Taking some of the later advice on this thread, I've looked around at some GM vehicles with the 3800 engine, primarily the Pontiac Grand Prix (I rented one years back and was impressed). What do you guys think of the following vehicles and prices?
2004 Pontiac Grand Prix GT - Burgandy, 142,000 miles, $3,950 Pros: Well below my max budget and has the supercharged 3800 for a bit more pep. Cons: 142,000 miles, priced more than $2,000 below KBB for suggested retail (kinda fishy, but in-line with private party "Good" condition, which is not atypical for some of the smaller used car dealerships around here).
2004 Pontiac Grand Prix GT2 - Silver, 124,000 miles, $5,295 Pros: Also below max budget, fewer miles than previous one (124,000), color. Cons: No photos (would obviously check it out before buying, but don't want to waste time looking at something with a beat up body).
2007 Pontiac Grand Prix - Stealth Gray Metallic, 149,000 Miles, $6,000 Pros: From a reputable dealer, color. Cons: 149,000 miles.
2004 Pontiac Grand Prix GTP - Silver, Unlisted Miles,$6,488 Pros: Supercharged!, color. Cons: Unlisted miles, higher price than all others included here.
I believe the GM 3800 has problems with the LIM and head gasket, correct? When do those normally manifest themselves?
Anything else in particular I should I look for with these vehicles?
