I upgraded my iphone SE 2nd gen to a SE 3rd gen, and it’s only 64GB. I had my 2nd gen for four years. The battery capacity was down to 82%. It kept on dimming by itself so I finally bought a new one. I like the SE because it’s small and still has the finger print ID and home button. I’m still on a 2 GB a month plan and pay $62 a month.

I only get one bar in my house and can’t even pull up emails and internet on cell service. I have to be on wifi at home to use my phone. So 2GB of data is plenty for me.

$62/mo? Mint is $15/mo, works great for my mom.
It's my belief that MVNOs are fine except when something like a power outage happens, then MVNO customer voice/data traffic probably gets heavily deprioritized in favor of the upstream cell provider's (i.e. tmob/verz/att) customers.
When the power goes out, everyone pulls out their phone for hotspotting or to watch netflix to pass the time. This burst demand requires the cell provider to apportion traffic, and I would guess customers of mint/boost/cricket etc are given minimum priority.
I have never had a phone plan like this, so it's all speculation on my part.

Fair enough, but I doubt anyone cares about getting the best network speeds during an emergency situation when they barely use any data and mention they live on the fringes of usable coverage anyway.

62 bucks for 2gb??? And I thought 1 line of verizon prepaid with 15gb for $35 bucks with autopay or 45 without was a poor value offering in 2024. What carrier do you have. But I believe tmobil has some special frequency that lets them have longer range so maybe something with t mobile would be good. Your phone could also get starlink internet connectivity for free with that t mobile service if it detects you have none from a cell tower.

Great little phone. I just checked the 3rd gen on Apples site. It's funny because at one time I was torn between the 12 or 13 mini before getting the standard size. Looks refreshing if you have had their standard stuff for so long.

I think you hit all the key points. Compact, home button and best of all a fingerprint reader. Ever since entering the Apple world I have missed a fingerprint reader and still do. I have had an XR, 11, and 13 (current)

The 64gb might be light by today's standard yet my current iPhone 13 was my first phone to have more than 64gb and I never ran out of space. SO here I am 2.5 years later and I still haven't used 64gb and the phone has 128gb. I use my phone a lot but Its really is what the use is for the phone. I take a lot of photos and I stream Apple Music, download a select few. I dont do movies so that is a non issue.

It's pretty easy to manage 64Gb in this type of use, right now I have 4,310 "items" (photos) on my phone and still have not used 64 gb out of the 128. I try to clean up photos and videos on my devices. I know for a fact that my kids, when I am no longer on this earth will want to go through more than a couple hundred. Im actually setting up a forever storage of select photos that they like to have. It's called a Photo Album and photo prints in it *LOL* I am starting to work on getting 22 YEARS of digital photos narrowed down to a few photo albums

Good luck with it, looks real sharp.

Ps, I think you made a mistake on your cell service comment of 2gb for $62 a month UNLESS you are including the cost of the phone.
2gb is only $8 a month and includes all taxes and fees. You get to choose from Verizon, T-Mobile or ATT service.

I liked finger print but oddly enough that was the end of my under two year old SE - with a pretty good Otterbox and gorilla glass - when dropped one pea gravel still found the thumb lens …

I've had my SE 2nd generation for 3 years. Didn't know the 3rd generation is out.

I bought it for the price. The small size is an add-on benefit - I wish it was smaller.

It depends. On US Mobile using Verizon I have the same data prioritization as someone on a post paid Verizon plan… until I use all my “premium” data, then I drop below them.

Or you can turn on "auto topoff" the extra gb per $ is reasonable however we only needed it once. The first month I think. I used a lot of data doing speed tests😂

We use Verizon on US Mobile too.
Even though the prioritization isn't important to me, it's cool to have being I have that c
for no extra cost. I wouldn't pay extra for it though. I didn't even know I had it until someone in here posted it. I checked the website and confirmed

Verizons own Visable service doesn't give you prioritization and yet you get it from US Mobile

I’ve been averaging ~13Gb a month on my phone. The WiFi at work is…. Well about 80% of the time it works every time.

US Mobile will allow you to pay an extra $12/month on Dark Star/AT&T for better data prioritization… matching Verizon.
