Well I have had the D4 in my 2006 Camry SE for about one week now. Upon changing the original T-IV that had 26,000 easy miles, i was not very impressed by the amount of gunk and the dark brown color although no surprises as I have seen this fluid do much worse. With the Red Line D4 I no longer have harsh shifts from first to second anymore! I performed the cooler line flush and ran about 14 quarts through and also installed a magnefine in-line. Shifting is nice and smooth so we will wait and see what some miles on her will do. So far I am impressed by the D4.

I consistently recomend Redline Gear oils and Redline ATF's for people and have yet to have anyone be disapointed. Now have they sometimes found something they liked better???Sure but I have never had anyone have a failure or accelerated wear etc... with any of Redlines Gear Lubes,MTL's or ATF's!! Oh their shock oils are top notch too. I turned some buddies onto it for their snow mobils and they absolutely love the stuff! I have not tried their actual power steering fluids since none of my vechile use power steering fluid they all use ATF but I am preety sure that they would be top notch as well.

I have tried just about every gear lube and ATF from Sweepco to SuperTech and I consistently keep comeing back to Redline for 99% of my transmission and diff lubes! Their price and performance are always great combo.

I have 144,000 miles on my RX330 with T-IV that I get from a Toyota dealer for $5/qt. I do a drain/fill every 15k and the trans still shifts fine. So, I really see no reason to try a more expensive ATF that is not speced by the factory.

To satisfy my curiosity about your drain and refill routine, how many qts do you need to do each drain and refill at 15k miles on your Lexus? I'm trying to see how this compares costwise overall to changing a synthetic ATF much less often (with inline filter and additional cooling added).

PT1- We are talking about how well Red Line D4 works in my application. Why do people always cry about specs with T-IV. it isnt even a half way decent ATF! Any trans that sees drains as frequntly as yours will have no problems regardless of brand. Thats great it works for you. Personally I think it sucks and I wanted something better. If thats what you choose to use in your application, good for you.

I too change the ATF regularly in my '01 RX-300 AWD with T-IV. And I still never liked the 1-2 shift. My sister-in-law has the same year RX-300 AWD as myself and she has never change the ATF(man, she only changed the oil once a year with what ever dino the quick change uses). Her's shifts just a bit better compared to mine and her engine feels stronger too and it's not in my head! She's h-e-l-l on wheels this girl! She's an animal! Her vehicles always seem to run great with little maintenance. I may try Red Line D4 although I've contemplated the Castrol Import MVF.

Char Baby- Like I said it has solved my harsh 1-2 shifting issue. I really notice it in parking lots where it would almost "lunge" before. I really liked the recommendation of guys like john on here to put a magnefine on this trans. With the amount of garbage that was in the fluid( granted it was never changed) I think this will really do alot to keep things nice and clean. This is the first Toyota I have used Red Line ATF in, but I have personally used it now for 12 years in all kinds of applications and have been very happy with it. Ask others on the board about synthetics that meet the T-IV spec and how they work for them. Amsoil and a few others have also been used with favorable results as well. Good luck in whatever you choose.

I use Redline D4 along with a ATX cooler in my Mazda with good results. Shifts are smooth considering i have the Jatco which is known for harsh shifting and heat issues.
