Yes, I reserve the option of freaking out and running out there and changing it in the May time frame. Plan to do a UOA w/ TBN and will post.

Tig, if you're still tuned in - I did the oil drop test (on a regular 3x5 card) - 9k on oil. coloring looks very uniform. no dark outline. oil is thus cleared to continue past 10k and beyond.

I usually do this test at 7K and it always looks good. A friend is doing 15K with 5-30EP and his one drop test still looks good.

Somewhere around '93/'94 me and my best friend met an Amsoil rep at a (unrelated) conference. Ams. rep spun a tale of petro chemistry efficiencies that infected me and my friend. I've loathed (bored with) the sub-10k OCI ever since.

Free tip - if you want to be a long OCIr, then beware of studying BITOG minutae. Lot of neurotics around here worrying about 1 part/million increases.

Oil is cheap. You dont know what the max is on the oil in your engine. If you want to risk engine damage because you wanted simplicity in your life,go for it.Change it at 10,000 miles, thats a nice round number and easy for you to remember. Dont be silly, just change the oil.

Living in Arkansas, you encounter many hills. So, if you shift into neutral when you crest the hills you can coast down. Your RPM's will drop from ~2000 to ~600 or so. With the decreased RPM's, you can push the Ultra for another 125.6 miles in addition to the original 15,000 miles, giving you a total of 15,125.6 miles before you have to change.

Silly huh? Just chance the dang oil at 10K. Amazing how much anguish there is over trying to push oil to its absolute limits. Oil is reeeeeal cheap over 10K. Everyone needs to get a grip!

I like your plan. One long OCI won't kill the car. It actually might provide beneficial information about your car. You're a brave man for pushing the envelope.
