Two Students Expelled For Kissing

My thoughts as a school principal:

1. Nice to see the school board supporting/ standing behind the school officials' decision(I would like to know who the officials are. Principal?)

2. I would like to know if there had been previous warnings or previous punishments to this couple. You can't count on the students' lawyers to give you that information and this report is only one lawyer's side of the issue. These kinds of reports like to make it sound like the kids did nothing wrong previously. Sometimes they have, sometimes they haven't.

3. If there there were previous warnings and/or previous lesser punishments and this couple had been "making out" in other places on school grounds not just the bus, then I think the school board could make a case for this being a proper punishment.

4. If this is a first offense, then a suspension from the bus for a short time would be a more appropriate first punishment. You can't deny a person's right to a public education because of kissing on a bus unless he/she has done it before, on school grounds, been warned, been punished, etc., and he/she continue to disobey the rule.

There was recently as story of 5th graders having intimate relations in class when the teacher was out. Were those kids expelled? They were suspended until their court date.

Comparatively, a young couple kissing is innocent.

The silly policy of "standing firmly" behind their decision is appalling! If the board doesn't back down from this nonsensical decision, it would be time to SUE for millions. Sad how school boards only listen to common sense once they are faced with litigation regarding such cold and inhumane decisions.

It's traumatizing to withered up old school board members that no one would kiss when they were that age.

Yeah, that might be it. And they probably can't get any now, either.

I was comparing the two events:

1. two student kissing
2. two students being expelled

Which event is harmful?

Just what the our country needs. Two uneducated young minds outcast by their society (school). The likely path next is drop out.

Another prime example of the failure of education.

At least give H.L. Mencken credit for the quote.

Yeah, that may be child porn and the school board may all go to jail.

If I read the snippet correctly, the local school board did think that the punishment fit the crime. That's what they are there for - so long as proper procedures were followed, it's not mine, Pablo's, your's, or a Judge's place to be second guessing them.

Um, yes they should be second guessed. This is crazy. A little kiss may cost the boy a chance at a military academy! Punishment does not fir the "crime". Kids can't be kids anymore these days.
