The rivet is put in and the distance from spring to bypass valve seal is predetermined. When it is riveted the spring is pulled down an exact amount. The pictures show the lowered spring ends at the rivet compared to the outer part. The spring is not sitting in its manufactured state, it is activated.
I see ... yes, it's pre-loaded like any bypass spring should be, regardless of design. Otherwise the opening pressure would be super low if not pre-loaded to the design opening pressure.
I’m going to run the Carquest Premium 84356 on the Honda and or STP aka PG version of it.
Also I think I am going to go back to Havoline or Chevron Supreme 5w30 in the Honda. The Honda runs quiet on the Cam2 and I like that. Hopefully it will be like that on the Havoline. I changed the transmission fluid in that car 3 times already so it’s good for awhile. There are times where I shift that car like a manual if I need more power from a standing start. Which helps it get going way better .. I’m glad I learned how to drive a real stick shift when I started driving.
